Maryland PLANT (People Loving and Nurturing Trees) Award
- Awarded in 2012 due to the large number of seedlings and trees planted and maintained when riparian buffer zones were created for the Cove Run Brook Trout Restoration Project.Because students have monitored and maintained these riparian buffers, NGHS was awarded the Gold Level award in 2013 and the green level award in 2014. We have received the green award every year since.

- Awarded in 2017 for the creation of the native meadow on our campus.

- Awarded in 2014 for the water conservation and pollution prevention practices headed by this class, including local stream monitoring, riparian buffer zone creation, and upkeep and monitoring of the constructed wetland.

Friends of Deep Creek Lake Agricultural Stewardship Award
- Awarded in 2013 for the creation of the riparian buffer zones along a stream near our campus to protect the brook trout population in the stream.
